The game I bought is Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer for Nintendo DS. The game is definitely not for those who consider themselves casual gamers or anything of the sort. This game is simple to understand and play but to truly beat it or master it, true time and dedication must be sunk in. Shiren is a rogue-like game. Basically, the point of the game is to make it through every randomly generated area and get to the area where the Golden Condor is at the very end of the game which is around 30 levels in. That would sound a lot easier and simpler if it weren't for the fact that if you ever die, you lose all your money, weapons, and you return to level one of the game and your character's level returns to one. Dying is very common in this game if you don't have the necessary weapons for the next later levels. Over time, you learn of even more tactics to truly master this game. Your weapons can be upgraded and even though you risk losing them, you can also have them sent back to the first town in the later levels if you ever die. That means you can breeze through and rank up faster if you send it back and die but that means that you are left with whatever weapons you have with when you do send it back. This game is truly hardcore. I haven't had it for that long but have already sunk in around 10hours in and I've almost made it through once. You get so attached to your character after ranking up and forgetting that if you die you start over, and its always when you remember is when the tough opponents jump out of the woodworks and say hi. There are alot of side story missions you randomly find in each town and since you are constantly dying and going through them over and over, you eventually start to get to know these people more and more and gain allies that can help you on the way. Warning, Shiren's brother eventually allies with you and he starts off and has so far just been a waste of time and space.
I have alot more to say about the game but I have other matters to attend to so just comment me and ask if you want to know more.
Overall: I like the game and although it gets increasingly repetitive, I can see myself sinking in another 10 hours to master it because to say you beat this game is an achievement unto itself. It is a difficult game made for the hardcore or truly dedicated and it can be taken lightly but I wouldn't dare underestimate it later on. I would have to give it a 7/10.
